Wuhan Hubei 430064 China: 2.General Contraction Company of CCTEB Wuhan Hubei 430064 China) Abstract:Steel sheet pile cofferdam is applied widely in the construction field of the deep-water bridge foundation.However the over-thick gravel layer causes great difficulty to the construction of steel sheet pile and the mud-suction at the bottom of the cofferdam underwater which limits the scope of the adaptability of the steel sheet pile cofferdam.Based on the construction of the steel sheet pile cofferdam in the main pier of the Third Han River Bridge in Xiangfan the above problems have been resolved by changing the sequence of the construction processing the head of the steel sheet pile and making the special pore-Heading equipment and the suction dredge in addition that the construction period is reduced and the construction risk and the cost is decreased.
