Foreword According to the requirements of “Notice on Printing Development and Revision Plan of National Engineering Construction Standards and Codes in 2009" (Jian Biao [2009] No. 88) jo o Ground Treatment of Buildings° (JGJ 79-2002) was revised by the code drafting group through extensive investigation by earnestly summing up the practical experiences with reference to the relevant intemational standards and foreign advanced standards in coordination with the relevant domestic codes as well as on the basis of widely soliciting opinions. This Code prises of the following main technical content: 1. General Provisions; 2. Terms and Symbols; 3. Basic Requirements; 4. Replacement Layer of Compacted Fill; 5. Preloaded Ground; 6. Compacted Ground and Rammed Ground; 7. Composite Foundation; 8. Ground Improvement by Permeation and High Hydrofracture Grouting; 9. Ground Improvement by Micropiles; 10. Inspection and Monitoring. The main technical content revised in this Code is as follows: 1. The treated ground was required to be in conformity with the bearing capacity deformation and stability of buildings; 2. Inspection requirements for the prehensive safety coefficient of acceptance inspection were added for the ground treatment engineering by virtue of various integrated ground treatment methods; 3. Materials for ground treatment were added which shall meet the requirements of durability design according to the categories of the site environment; 4. Overall stability analysis method for the treated ground was added; 5. Design checking method for the replacement layer of tensile reinforcement was added; 6. Design and construction requirements for the bined preloading with surcharge of fill and vacuum preloading treatment were added; 7. Design parameters for the high pacting energy were added; 8. Checking method for the pile body strength of reinforcement with bond strength in case of base depth corrected for the bearing capacity of posite foundation was added; 9. Design and construction requirements for the posite foundation with multiple reinforcement of different materials or lengths were added; 10. Ground improvement by permeation and high hydrofracture grouting was added; 11. Ground improvement by micropiles was added; 12. Inspection and monitoring were added; 13. Key points for load test on single pile of posite foundation were added; 14. Key points for load test on treatment ground were added. The provisions printed in bold type in this Code are pulsory ones and must be enforced strictly. The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China is in charge of the administration of this Code and the explanation of the pulsory provisions and the China Academy of Building Research is responsible for the explanation of specific technical content.
